09/14/2011 - Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Los Angeles Dodgers ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw was ejected in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against Arizona after he hit Gerardo Parra with a pitch.
In the middle of a possible stretch run for a Cy Young Award and bidding for his 19th win of the season, Kershaw plunked Parra on the right elbow leading off the sixth. The Dodgers were ahead 2-0 at the time and Kershaw had given up one hit and fanned five.
Home plate umpire Bill Welke immediately ejected Kershaw and then threw Dodgers manager Don Mattingly out of the game, one night after there was a blow-up between Parra and the Dodgers.
It was during the seventh inning of Tuesday's game when Hong-Chih Kuo threw a pitch that sailed over the head of Parra, who then homered to right field and stood at the plate for a moment to admire his blast. After crossing the plate, Parra and Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis exchanged words, and Kershaw could be seen yelling from the dugout.
Josh Lindblom came in to replace Kershaw.
