Clippers, Raptors meet at Staples Center

This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Raptors are scheduled to host the Clippers on February 4, 2007 at the Air Canada Centre.

Toronto has lost two straight at the Clippers, who have won two in a row and four of the last five contests in this series.

The Clippers enter tonight's contest on a four-game losing streak. On Sunday, All-Star center Yao Ming scored a game-high 32 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the Houston Rockets to a 108-103 victory over the at the Staples Center.

Shaun Livingston poured in a career-high 21 points for Los Angeles, which has lost five of its last six games overall. Chris Kaman scored a season-high 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Elton Brand added 19 points and nine rebounds in defeat.

LA is 9-5 at home this season. After tonight's contest, the Clippers will embark on a three-game road trip. They will visit Dallas, Houston and Utah on the upcoming swing.

Toronto plays the second of a four-game road trip. On Tuesday, Amare Stoudemire scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and reigning MVP Steve Nash dished out 15 assists to lead the Phoenix Suns to a franchise-record 15th straight win with a 115-98 victory over the Raptors at US Airways Center.

T.J. Ford scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss to Phoenix for the Raptors, but left with a bruised lower back in the fourth quarter and did not return. Andrea Bargnani scored 18 points and grabbed eight boards for the Raptors, who had a three-game winning streak halted.

The Raptors are 3-12 on the road this season. They will visit Portland on Friday and Seattle on Saturday.
